Return filters
Return Hydraulic Filter – Key Features
Installed on the return line to the reservoir, return filters perform the task of filtering the fluid and preventing particles from entering the system. These filters are typically mounted to the reservoir and may be fully or partially submerged in oil.
The filter placement ensures that fluid return occurs in a submerged state under all operating conditions, preventing foam and vortex formation in the reservoir, which could cause failures or cavitation in pumps.
The correct filter size depends on the presence of accumulators or cylinders, which can significantly increase the oil flow rate in the return line.
Since working pressures on return lines are relatively low, these filters are usually lightweight yet durable.
For convenience, the filter element can be removed without disconnecting the filter from the rest of the system.
