Pneumatic elements
Pneumatics
Pneumatics uses compressed air energy to generate motion and control actuators in machines and industrial installations. Although it usually operates at lower pressures than hydraulics, it still requires precise components and proper air preparation. Pneumatic systems are widely used wherever fast operation, repeatable motion and easy integration with industrial automation are important.
Pneumatic cylinders
Pneumatic cylinders are manufactured according to widely used ISO standards, including ISO 15552 for larger bore and stroke units and ISO 6432 for mini cylinders. Standardized mounting dimensions make component interchangeability and system servicing easier.
The correct cylinder selection depends on the required force, stroke length, operating frequency and the environmental conditions in which the machine or production line operates.
Pneumatic valves
The key control components in pneumatic systems are directional control valves. They are responsible for controlling the direction of compressed air flow and changing the position of pneumatic cylinders. Depending on the application, different valve types and mounting solutions are used.
| Valve type | Application | Characteristics |
|---|---|---|
| 3/2 | Control of single-acting cylinders | 3 ways, 2 positions |
| 5/2 | Control of double-acting cylinders | 5 ways, 2 positions |
| 5/3 | Cylinder positioning and stop function | Closed-center or exhausted center position |
| Flow control valve | Motion speed regulation | Outlet or inlet throttling |
Pneumatic valves can be installed individually or as valve islands controlled by communication networks such as Profinet or IO-Link. These solutions make it easier to integrate pneumatic systems with industrial automation and enable remote control of system operation.
Air preparation
Compressed air preparation is handled by FRL units, which are responsible for filtration, pressure regulation and lubrication. Proper preparation of the working medium directly affects the service life of seals, valves and moving parts in pneumatic drives.
Efficiency of pneumatic systems
Modern pneumatic solutions focus on reducing energy consumption and compressed air losses. The use of low-power valves and real-time leak monitoring systems helps reduce operating costs and improve the overall efficiency of the installation.
