Hydraulic filters
Hydraulic Filter
Effective filtration of working fluid in hydraulic systems prevents malfunctions and simultaneously increases the durability of critical and costly system components. To avoid failures, various types of hydraulic filters are used, designed to retain harmful contaminants within the filter.
The filters available in our offer are characterized by high sensitivity, enabling efficient filtration of solid particles that could otherwise cause destructive damage to the hydraulic system.
Depending on the application, filters are classified as pressure filters (low, medium, and high pressure), suction filters, return filters, and spin-on (cartridge) filters. High-pressure filters are installed downstream of the pump, suction filters upstream, and return filters clean the oil before it returns to the reservoir. Spin-on filters are easy to replace and mainly used in mobile machinery.
Each filter is selected according to the specific hydraulic system type and operational conditions – both in terms of flow rate and working pressure.
Operating Principle of the Hydraulic Oil Filter
A hydraulic filter operates by passing oil through a porous filtration element that captures contaminants. The filtration element (filter cartridge) can be made of glass microfibers, cellulose, or metal meshes with filtration ratings from 1 to 500 micrometers. The filtration process can be enhanced by pressure differentials or gravitational forces.
More advanced systems employ multi-layer cartridges that provide high contaminant retention capacity while maintaining low flow resistance.
Contamination indicators on the filter (optical, electrical, and combined) enable real-time monitoring of the filter cartridge condition and prevent operation with a clogged filter.
