Hydraulic accumulators
Hydraulic accumulators
Hydraulic accumulators store energy in the form of compressed gas, most commonly nitrogen, separated from the working fluid by an elastic element or a piston. Their purpose is to compensate pressure pulsations, absorb hydraulic shocks, maintain system pressure and support temporary peak flow demand.
Types of hydraulic accumulators
- Bladder accumulators: the most common type in mobile and industrial hydraulics. They provide fast response to pressure changes and a compact design.
- Piston accumulators: suitable for large volumes and high pressures. Gas and fluid are separated by a sealed piston.
- Diaphragm accumulators: intended for smaller volumes and often used in compensating and auxiliary systems.
Safety blocks and valves
Hydraulic accumulators should be equipped with suitable safety blocks as well as shut-off and relief valves. These components ensure safe operation, allow the accumulator to be isolated from the system and help control gas and oil pressure.
Charging devices and connections
Correct pre-charging of the accumulator with nitrogen is essential for proper operation. For this purpose, charging kits with a pressure gauge and suitable service connections are used. Regular monitoring of pre-charge pressure affects the service life of the bladder, diaphragm or piston seals.
Accessories and spare parts
Available components include bladders, diaphragms, seal kits, gas connections and mounting elements for servicing and refurbishing hydraulic accumulators. Proper component selection helps ensure safety and compliance with the design parameters of the installation.
