Filter Clogging Indicators – Key Features

Filter elements are effective only when their dirt-holding capacity is fully utilized. To monitor this, filter housings should be equipped with clogging indicators that activate when clogging of the element causes an increase in pressure inside the filter. The clogging indicator should be selected to activate before the filter element becomes completely clogged.

Clogging indicators are divided into several basic types:

• vacuum switches and indicators
• pressure switches and indicators
• differential pressure indicators

These components may feature visual indication, transmit electrical signals, or provide both functionalities.
